College of Mount Saint Vincent students, high school students and community leaders took part in a leadership summit on Thursday.

The event at The Riverdale School allowed students to learn ways they can set themselves apart in the classroom and in life.

“We're a collective of learners, not just students, from admin all the way up to the top to students,” said College of Mount Saint Vincent Center for Leadership director Drew Curiel. “I look at it being if we're going to be a prominent higher education place in the Bronx and be a part of the community, lets invite the community.”

“Leadership is doing,” added Archdiocese of New York Auxiliary Bishop Joseph Espaillat. “It’s not just about coming to college and sitting there with your arms crossed, it’s about going out into the world and changing the world.

Organizers say the key to putting the event together was getting speakers who students could relate to, and some who they already knew.
