News 12 Storm Watch Team Meteorologist Mike Rizzo says temperatures will only reach the high teens overnight and the high 20s on MLK Day.
Mike's Forecast: Nasty cold settles in overnight. Lows reach near 20 degrees with feel like temperatures of 10-15 degrees. Monday will start off briefly sunny, but clouds move through ahead of the next winter storm. Although the storm comes through, it's not a bad one by any means - "pretty snowfall" is how I describe it, with light to moderate snow showers moving through Tuesday. It may start very early - near 1am on Tuesday, and carry into the morning and early afternoon. All snow shower activity should cease just before 4pm in NYC with lingering clouds through Tuesday night.
MONDAY - MLK DAY: Mostly sunny and less windy, but very chilly. Highs in the low 30s.
TUESDAY - Stray snow showers early followed by breaks in the afternoon maximum accumulations of 1 to 2" possible. Highs in the mid-30s.
WEDNESDAY: Sunny and very cold. Highs in the 20s, lows near 20.
THURSDAY: Mix of clouds and sun. Highs in the mid-30s. Overnight lows in the mid-20s.
FRIDAY: Watching a possible winter storm. Expect scattered snow showers with highs in the mid-30s.
NEXT WEEKEND: Very cold with highs in the 20s and lows in the teens or near 20.
