Community comes to together to honor teenager killed by police officer

Family and community members came together Saturday to honor the life of a 13-year-old teenager who was fatally shot by a police officer in 1994.
The celebration of Nicholas Heyward Jr.'s life included food, music and basketball.
Heyward's family announced that they will be requesting for the city to implement a series of new laws requiring police officers to report on their interactions with youth.
His family says they believe, it's legislation that could have helped prevent what happened to Heyward.
His father says he will continue to honor his son every year at Nicholas Naquan Heyward Park, which was named after his son.
