After a violent weekend in Brooklyn, community leaders and chaplains are coming together to put an end to street violence.

There were multiple reports of stabbings, shootings and assaults that left many critically injured across the borough this past weekend.

Many local chaplains say that they have come together to respond to the violence by becoming the eyes and ears of law enforcement. They say that they want Mayor de Blasio and his administration to become a part of the solution by providing resources that can help save lives.

In an effort to combat violence, community advocate Tony Herbert created the One Family One Community initiative that is aimed at ending street violence by providing positive activities.

The leaders say that they hope their new strategies can help keep kids off the streets.
