An 83-year-old woman who was found dead in her Brownsville apartment earlier this week has left residents on edge.
Jacolia James was killed Tuesday in her apartment at 393 Powell Ave. Police were called to the building just before midnight. The woman was found beaten, with injuries to her head and chest.
Residents are on edge and say there isn't enough security. They want to see a guard in the building at all times and want cameras installed. They say the city has failed to do that.
On the heels of the homicide, community organization Man Up will send a team to watch over the building as best they can.
Police are still searching for the suspect. They are offering a $2,500 reward to anyone with information leading to an arrest.
