Organizers of a South Bronx Hip Hop festival at the Bronx Community Garden moved forward with a Saturday concert despite what they call a ?run-around? from Bronx police.
Festival representatives say they acquired the proper permits from the 40th Precinct last month, but they were recently informed the concert was under a different precinct?s jurisdiction. The 42nd Precinct then directed them towards the Parks Department to get permission for the event.
The Parks Department gave organizers the go-ahead with the festival but is not able to grant the necessary permits.
Concert representatives say community members have pitched in to make the festival a reality and their work will not be ignored.
Organizers say the event is a good way to show community members that hip-hop can be a positive influence.
