Surveillance video taken from a Canarsie store may show the suspect in the rape of a 19-year-old woman Sunday morning in a Rockaway Parkway alley.
Police have not confirmed whether the man shown in the video is indeed a suspect, but he appears to match a description released by police earlier.
They say he is a black man in his 50s who was wearing blue and white Hawaiian shorts, a white tank top and a white shirt over his head. The video was taken near the scene of the crime, shortly before the rape occurred.
According to police, the victim was walking down the parkway early Sunday morning when an older man came up to her, put his arm around her shoulder and said, "Come with me, I have a gun."
Police say the girl refused, so the man forced her onto a driveway down into the alleyway and there was a struggle. Cops say he threatened to shoot her, and then raped her.
The victim was taken to Kings County Hospital for treatment.
Police are still searching for the suspect.
Anyone with information that could help police is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
