A cybercrime ring where dozens of people allegedly stole personal information from unsuspecting victims was broken up today by authorities.
Fifty-five suspects were arrested for the cybercrimes, and at least 40 of the perpetrators were from Brooklyn.
The Manhattan District Attorney's Office said that most of the scheme was operated out of East Flatbush, but some of the crimes occurred in Midwood as well.
One man accused in the crime ring is Roberto Millar, who allegedly accessed customer information at the Midwood Audi dealership he worked for to commit fraudulent financial transactions and other crimes.
Other people charged in the crime were bank employees and workers at the non-profit United Jewish Appeal (UJA). According to the district attorney, two murders occurred while the scheme was going on, with one of the victims in possession of a forged check to UJA.
