Retired and working corrections officers met Sunday to voice their frustrations with what they call the increasing violence at Rikers Island.

The corrections officers stood with religious leaders in Bedford-Stuyvesant and explained that there have been more than 300 serious assaults recorded against New York City corrections officers this year.

The group says incidents like an officer being slashed by an inmate happen all the time.

They say they want the same respect that's given to the NYPD.
