Many residents spent Saturday pumping water from basements and backyards after Friday?s rains. They say the cause of the flooding is the sewer line. Neighbors in a 10-block area between Fairfax and Waterbury avenues say there should be two lines, instead of one to deal with excess rain.
The Department of Design and Construction say work is slated to begin in the area in mid 2008. Councilman Jimmy Vacca (D-The Bronx) says he is confident the city now has the project on a faster track for completion.
