Charges have been
upgraded against a Flanders mom accused of driving high on drugs, crashing and
fatally injuring her 4-year-old daughter.
A grand jury has
indicted Amy Wesolowski on a charge of vehicular manslaughter in the
crash that led to the child's death.
Investigators say
the 34-year-old mother was leaving her driveway under the influence of drugs
when she drove directly into oncoming traffic. Wesolowski’s 4-year-old was in
the back seat. The child died from her injuries days later at Stony
Brook University Hospital.
Wesolowski has
been charged with vehicular manslaughter, DWI with a child under 15 in the car,
driving on drugs, endangering the welfare of a child and driving without a
license.
Wesolowski’s
attorney says she was in a treatment program for drugs at the time of the
crash.
Wesolowski was
granted supervised release. A judge ordered her to remain in her drug treatment
program.
