Workers have finally begun repairing the parking garage at
the Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services on Central Avenue in
Bridgeport.
Employees were complaining about falling debris and other
problems resulting from the deteriorating structure.
Now they say, the News 12 investigative report exposing the
problem helped to get those repairs underway.
"News 12 was a fundamental mover and shaker in us
getting the funds released from Hartford, and actually getting the contract
signed and the work started. So, for that I will always be grateful for you and
your station,” said Mike Doyle, employee at Department of Mental Health and
Addiction Services.
Doyle said repairs are expected to take two years to
complete, and he's grateful to the state for committing the resources necessary
to get the job done.
