A News 12 viewer says she got results from the city after a story aired about the conditions in her Brownsville apartment.

Rikaya Carroway contacted News 12 after steel beams came through her Glenmore Plaza apartment walls. She claimed that the city's Housing Authority did not respond to her requests to fix the issue.

She says that within 24 hours of her story airing, crews came to her home to remove the beams and plaster her walls.

A spokesperson for the city's Housing Authority told News 12 that a contractor was doing brickwork in the building and "during the installation of a panel on the exterior wall, the contractor drilled through the exterior and accidentally penetrated the resident's apartment... We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused."

The construction is part of a $5.5 million renovation project at Glenmore Plaza.

Carroway says that despite the damage, she feels no ill will toward NYCHA.
