Residents in Crown Heights say they are worried that a controversial planned transformation of the Bedford-Union Armory won't serve their neighborhood.
Community organizers voiced their concerns at a town meeting Tuesday night.
The long-empty armory, which stretches nearly a full city block, is one of the last great untapped resources in the area.
Residents say they feel it should be used in a way that benefits everyone in the community. They say they are worried that the current developer's plan won't do that.
Developer BFC Partners plans to turn the armory into a mixed-use complex, which the company promises will include affordable housing.
Another developer, as well as New York Knicks star Carmelo Anthony have dropped out of the plan.
