Plans are in place for a new apartment complex where the horse stables on Pelham Parkway South currently reside.
The deed for the property was auctioned off by the city in November 2013 after the owner fell behind on taxes.
The property was a site of controversy over the years. Animal activists said that Buster Marengo kept his horse, Bronco, in poor conditions at the stable. Marengo says the accusations are unfortunate and untrue.
Property developer Mark Stagg and his business partner, Adolfo Carrion, say the new complex will have 130 apartments. Construction is set to start in February or March. It's expected to finish in one year.
