(11/06/06) SUNSET PARK ? The family of an elderly Brooklyn man wants a hit-and-run driver to step forward after a fatal weekend accident.
Ismael Rivera, 75, was crossing Fourth Avenue at 23rd Street Sunday around 9 p.m. when he was struck by a car. Police say after that driver sped away, Rivera was hit by a second car. The second driver then called police. However, Rivera died as a result of his injuries.
Rivera?s family says the victim might have lived if the first driver did the right thing and stopped for help. Police say they are looking for a blue Chevy Cavalier with a passenger door color that doesn?t match the rest of the car. Anyone with information on the incident is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-511-TIPS.
