An elderly man died Wednesday after he was pinned under a vehicle at a Boerum Hill bodega during a car accident.
Witnesses say the man died as a result of a horrific chain of events set in motion by an ambulette service driver. According to witnesses, the ambulette tried to swerve around a minivan as it was making a right-hand turn from Atlantic Avenue on Hoyt Street. Instead, they say the ambulette rear-ended the minivan, sending it crashing into the bodega. Emergency workers say an elderly man who was in front of the store was pinned under the vehicle and died as a result of his injuries.
The victim's friends say he spent time at the bodega reading the paper, drinking coffee and playing scratch-off games with friends. He?s remembered as a kind man.
Police have not made any arrests and continue to investigate the incident.
