A Brooklyn man has been named the first Latino to be chief assistant to Brooklyn's district attorney.
District Attorney Ken Thompson officially named Eric Gonzalez his chief assistant at a Hispanic Heritage Month celebration at Brooklyn Law School. Gonzalez had worked as a prosecutor at the DA's office for previous administrations.
Gonzalez says Latinos are underrepresented in the city's legal system and he hopes to change that. He officially starts his new position in December.
