A former NYPD detective accused of driving drunk and mowing down a Bronx grandmother was back in court Thursday.
According to prosecutors, Kevin Spellman was off-duty when he struck and killed the 67-year-old woman in Oct. 2009. They say he refused to take a Breathalyzer test at the scene of the accident.
Spellman faces several charges, including vehicular homicide, vehicular manslaughter and driving while under the influence.
A trial date is expected to be scheduled at Spellman's next court appearance on Sept. 7.
