It has been 19 days since 74-year-old Crucita Alvarado went missing in Coney Island, and now her family is asking for the public's help in finding her.
Alvarado, who is also known as "Lucy," was last seen on the corner of 30th Street and Mermaid Avenue, where she would often smoke cigars and spend time with other retirees.
Alvarado's daughter, Ingrid, says her mother, who suffers from Alzheimer's, never returned home from her usual spot on Aug. 12. Since then, she says the family has been handing out missing persons fliers every day.
The family has also been checking hospitals, shelters and parks, even asking people on subway trains if they have seen her. They say that, because of her Alzheimer's, she may be anywhere, confused and lost.
The family asks anyone who might see Alvarado to call police.
