The family of a Bronx teen who was shaken up and badly bruised by a falling elevator is planning to file a lawsuit.
Kenneth Lacen, 17, was in an elevator in his apartment building to visit some friends on the fifth floor when it suddenly plunged from the second floor to the basement.
According to the city's Department of Buildings (DOB), two ropes failed and caused the elevator to fall several feet. Since then, the DOB has issued two violations against Colonial Management Group, which owns the building.
Lacen says he suffered a sprained leg and has neck and back pain from hitting his head on the elevator ceiling.
