A 62-year-old man who has dementia has been missing for more than two weeks and his family is pleading with the public for help in their search.
It’s been 17 days since Piotre Zaremba went missing. He left his house in Greenpoint on the morning of Sept. 26 and hasn't been seen since.
Zaremba has had dementia since he underwent brain surgery back in 1998. He also has diabetes.
His daughter tells News 12 that he left the house without his medication, money, or ID. He was last seen on video from a security camera on Nassau Avenue.
The family says they have been searching tirelessly for him. They've posted fliers and called hospitals to see if any new patients match his description.
They tell News 12 that Zaremba loves to sit on a bench in Monsignor McGolrick Park, just steps away from his house.
His family tells News 12 that due to his illness and language barrier, he may be in distress when approached. If anyone sees him, they say the best option is to contact the police right away.
