The FDNY battled two fires in Brooklyn Friday afternoon just hours apart.

Fire officials say the first fire broke out in a Midwood home at around noon.

Just a few hours later, a second fire broke out on the second floor of an apartment building in Flatbush.

Officials say the frigid temperatures and windy condition create challenges for firefighters.

“The wind will also have a negative effect in fighting the fire and cause challenges in extinguishing,” said FDNY Deputy Chief Michael Kirwin.

During the Flatbush blaze, firefighters rescued a dog that had been trapped on the third floor of the building.

“At that point, they removed the dog into the towel-out basket and brought him to the street level,” Kirwin explained.

Despite the difficult conditions, the FDNY confirmed that no one was hurt in either fire.

Both fires are under investigation.

The FDNY is reminding residents to unplug electrical devices, including holiday lights, when they are not at home to help prevent fires.
