FDNY firefighters received their first doses of the recently authorized Moderna vaccine on Tuesday.
The FDNY EMTs started getting their vaccine last week. News 12 is told 450 vaccines are expected to be administered per day over the next several weeks at three locations, including the FDNY Headquarters, the EMS Training Academy, and the Fire Academy on Randalls Island.
A recent survey of the United Firefighters Association found only 45% plan to get vaccinated.
According to the governor’s office, firefighters are now an addition to the 140,000 New Yorkers who have already received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
