The FDNY confirmed a gas leak was the cause of the explosion that damaged several homes in East Flatbush on Thursday night.
The explosion, which took place in a basement, happened just days after an annual block party on at 790 E. 37th St.
The home was completely blown off its foundation after crews from National Grid checked the lines going into the homes to determine they were not the source.
The Department of Buildings determined the explosion not only caused structural damage to this building, but damage to the two buildings next door.
“I feel bad for my neighbors,” said East Flatbush’s Opal Morrison. “The ones displaced who are hurt, we are praying for them.”
