The FDNY confirms it received a report of a gas explosion in the basement of a six-story apartment building on East 198th Street.

Authorities say residents were initially instructed to evacuate the building but were allowed to return shortly afterward.

No injuries were reported in the incident, according to the FDNY.

Con Edison crews are on scene and investigating the cause of the reported explosion.
