Officials say an international drug kingpin has been arrested.
Tirso Martinez-Sanchez is accused of trafficking tens of thousands of kilos of cocaine from Mexico to the United States. Officials say some of the drugs made their way to Brooklyn.
According to federal prosecutors, the 51-year-old used an elaborate transportation network to ship the drugs to the organization's stash warehouses.
In addition, prosecutors say during the course of the investigation, federal agents seized 2,000 kilograms of cocaine from a warehouse in Brooklyn.
Martinez-Sanchez was extradited from Mexico to the United States Thursday.
