Some South Park Slope residents brought their fight against developers before the city?s Board of Standards and Appeals Wednesday.
Many residents claim the developers are working illegally in order to build taller buildings under old zoning laws. Witnesses say crews work after hours, violate stop work orders and don?t properly remove asbestos. The community group recommends none of the projects should be built under old zoning laws regardless of when foundations were in place.
The Board of Standards and Appeals has asked for specifics in each of the claims, such as sales slips and dates photos were taken. Developers are asking for more time to prove that enough of their foundations were finished to be allowed to continue under the old laws. The board is expected to rule within 10 days.
