The makers of a new crime film that prominently features a pit bull have partnered with a Brooklyn animal shelter to support animal welfare and rescues.
"The Drop," which is set in Brooklyn, stars Tom Hardy as a bartender who rescues a pit bull from a cruel and abusive owner. He then learns to care for a dog for the first time.
The filmmakers have teamed up with Badass Brooklyn Animal Rescue, helping them set up boxes where people can make donations and "drop" dog food to support local animal rescues.
Badass Brooklyn Animal Rescue has been saving dogs for about four years.
"Badass has actually also been able to make a difference in the adopter's lives," said Sara Cross, who works for the animal rescue. "You know, we bring some fantastic dogs and make them available for adoption. We put a lot of care into making sure that they are healthy and well-trained and well-behaved and you know, they really improve the lives of the people that adopt them, so it's good for both the dogs whose lives we save and the people who adopt them whose lives we are able to improve."
