A massive fire broke out on Canarsie's densely packed, residential Paerdegat 14th Street Thursday afternoon.
The FDNY says flames spread to adjacent buildings before crews put out the flames.
Officials say firefighters responded to the three-alarm fire at around 3 p.m. at 15 Paerdegat 14th St.
The residential neighborhood is known for its closely placed homes. News 12 cameras arrived as more than 100 firefighters fought to contain the flames, which they brought under control by 4:30 p.m.
Officials say that the fire started in a top-floor apartment and spread to neighboring units.
The woman who lives in that apartment was out of her home at the time. When she arrived at the scene, she appeared distraught and declined to speak with News 12.
No injuries were reported.
