More than 100 firefighters worked to extinguish a fire in Bensonhurst Sunday morning.
Officials say the fire consumed the first and second floor of a commercial building on New Utrecht Avenue. They say the flames sparked just after 7 a.m.
Officials say the flames damaged the L-structure of the D train and disrupted service as crews worked for nearly two hours to get it under control.
Charles Gucciardo, the owner of the building, says his family has owned the building for 55 years.
He told News 12 that the tenant was planning to put a boxing gym on the second floor.
Fire marshals are investigating what caused the fire.
