A fire broke out at a four-story apartment building in Bushwick Wednesday afternoon, destroying the back half of the building and leaving 40 people displaced.
Fire officials say the blaze broke out at around 3 p.m. at 283 Evergreen Ave. The three-alarm fire took around an hour to put out.
The fire started in the first two floors before spreading to the top two stories. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Five people, a civilian and four firefighters, suffered minor injuries. A family's dog died in the fire.
