Tragedy unfolded in front of 1345 Jefferson Ave. around 7:30 a.m. when a man apparently killed his girlfriend and then himself on a sidewalk in Bushwick.

Neighbors say they heard a couple arguing while running down Jefferson Avenue, toward Knickerbocker.

A neighbor recalls being inside of her apartment when she heard a woman screaming “for her life” outside. She then heard three shots ring out and then silence.

That silence was followed by the death of a 41-year-old man and 32-year-old woman, according to police. The man’s family identified him as Gabriel Sanchez.

Sanchez‘s mother said over the phone that she did not know her son owned a gun and couldn't fathom how the situation unfolded.

On scene, News 12 also spoke to the woman’s family members.

News 12 was told they had only been dating a few months.

A small vigil was placed at the scene for Gabriel Sanchez on Tuesday by his friends and family members.

Friends and family of the woman came by later and kicked over the vigil.

Police have not released the victim's identity.
