Police say a man and woman have died following an attempted murder-suicide in Bushwick early Monday morning.

It happened on Jefferson Avenue between Wilson and Knickerbocker avenues. Officers responded to a call about the shooting at 7:32 a.m.

Investigators say a 41-year-old man shot a 32-year-old woman in the head before turning the gun on himself. Witnesses at the scene reported seeing the man fire at the woman before shooting himself.

Both victims were rushed to the hospital – the woman to Wyckoff Hospital and the man to Woodhull Hospital – in critical condition.

A witness named Jay told News 12 he heard the gunfire.

"I just heard some gunshots, that’s all I heard," he said. When asked how many shots, he responded, "Like two, that’s it."

Police confirmed that the man lives nearby, while the woman lives about 30 minutes away in Brooklyn. Investigators recovered a gun at the scene and are continuing to look into what led up to the shooting.
