Fort Hamilton kicked off the holiday season Friday with a tree lighting ceremony.

Kids and their parents circled around a carousel at the base as the lights were turned on.

Santa, Mrs. Claus and elves made appearances for photos with adoring fans.

There were also multiple vendors, including an ice cream truck.
