The Foster Park Basketball League is back for its ninth year in East Flatbush.
Over the course of six weeks, hundreds of young teens are participating in the league where they will be developing their basketball skills, as well as work on their mental fitness and mindfulness skills.
Melvin Irbi, program director for Foster Park Sports told News 12 he has been part of the program for five years and it gets better and better each year.
"We try to instill other things; outlets for kids to have right now through basketball," Irbi said. "We have a lot of children now that are on their way to colleges with scholarships, some of them partial scholarships. Some of them stay here, some go away so our program has been very successful over the last nine years.”
News 12's Daniella Rodriguez spoke to many of the players about what this program means for their future in basketball.
