A NYCHA tenant in Crown Heights say she is still calling for help after dealing with issues like mold and crumbling ceilings for the past four years.
Jasmine says her bathroom has mold covering the entire ceiling, and she said the smell is like no other.
It's been four years since Jasmine moved into the apartment with her kids. She told News 12 when she first got there, she complained to NYCHA about the conditions, and they told her to create a ticket.
Years later, she said there are still issues with the ceiling, telling News 12 about an incident from a few months ago.
"It started falling apart as we were using the bathroom, every day, every time, it just keeps, more and more of the ceiling keeps falling down," said Jasmine.
She says a NYCHA employee came back in March to patch it up, but the leaks continued, and the mold continued to spread - but that's not the only issues inside this apartment. Her stove is a main concern.
"I got to literally turn on my stove and then - I keep banging it just to turn it on," said Jasmine.
She has to bang on the stove every day to cook, and while she was showing News 12 around her apartment, a NYCHA employee stopped by to see the conditions. They told her they would put in a new ticket to fix her bathroom, stove and kitchen, but Jasmine said all she needs is a transfer and she's been waiting on one for years.
"I put in for a transfer, still nothing, 'Oh we have to wait for a couple of years for you to get a new apartment.' I said the conditions we living in is not livable," said Jasmine.
News 12 reached out to NYCHA regarding the complaints, and it said, "the additional repairs in this unit are currently being scheduled and will be completed to the resident's satisfaction in the coming days."
She is still waiting to hear about her transfer.
