The American Cancer Society recommends that most women start getting yearly mammograms at age 45, then can switch to every other year at age 55.

State Sen. Kevin Parker sponsored the event in collaboration with the New York Cancer and Blood Specialists and Memorial Sloane Kettering Cancer Center. They say they wanted to offer this program on Saturday to make it easier for those with busy schedules to attend.

The New York Cancer and Blood Specialists will continue to have free mammograms available every Monday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
