As the clock runs down before tax deadline day arrives on April 15, the Food Bank for New York City is offering free tax help at several sites across Brooklyn.
News 12 stopped by one of the sites Saturday, the Center for Family Life in Sunset Park. Families who earn less than $53,000 will be able to file their taxes for free with the help of IRS-certified tax preparers.
Last year, the Food Bank helped more than 50,000 people across the city save a total of about $85 million in tax refunds. This year, the group says it's on track to save $100 million.
The Food Bank for New York City will have tax prep sites open from now until deadline day on Wednesday.
