Hurricane Sandy victims in Gerritsen Beach are taking relief efforts into their own hands.
Residents have created a makeshift outreach center at the corner of Noel and Seba avenues. It's completely run by volunteers and is providing bottled water, food and other supplies daily from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m.
