Gov. Cuomo outlines 'Vital Brooklyn' initiative in Bed-Stuy

Gov. Andrew Cuomo was at the YMCA in Bedford-Stuyvesant Thursday to outline the $1.4 billion initiative named 'Vital Brooklyn' that aims to help neighborhoods like East New York, Brownville, Bed-Stuy and Crown Heights.
The eight-phase project's goal is to create healthier food options, more health care centers, affordable housing and overall economic growth in those areas.
A total of $40 million will go towards community space and programs for kids and adults. Another $700 million will be used for community-based health care, and $163 million will go toward affordable housing.
In total, there are 8,800 new projects coming to these areas. Gov. Cuomo expects that by 2020, all these projects will be up and running.
