New Yorkers may be getting a break from medical debt thanks to a series of bills signed by Gov. Kathy Hochul.
The laws ban hospitals from reporting medical debt to credit agencies, meaning a person's credit score won't take a massive hit from hospital bills.
This will also slow down the surge of debt collector calls.
The legislation includes making it illegal for drugmakers to hike prices during a shortage and makes it easier to avoid automatic subscription renewals.
