The lingering government shutdown has New Yorkers wondering how it will impact their tax returns this season.

Dimple Barot at Tax Refund King in Hunts Point says not to be concerned.

"Once we have all the returns, we're gonna submit it and it's gonna be processed in a timely manner so all the clients don't have to worry about getting their refunds back on time or not," says Barot.

E-filing opens Jan. 28. Barot suggests getting paperwork in quickly so as to get refunds as soon as possible. Checks shouldn't be delayed, according to Barot - but Barot's main message is to stay calm and get a head start on filing.

"In my opinion, we shouldn't worry about it," says Barot. "You know, why worry about something that's not in your control, right? So file the taxes, get ready and when refunds are gonna come, they'll come."

The Trump administration is calling back more than 50 percent of furloughed IRS workers to process returns, in an effort to avoid major issues this tax season.
