The chess club of a Greenpoint school is raising money so it can attend a national competition.
Budgets cuts have caused P.S. 31's Brooklyn Kings Chess Club to look to raise $15,000 to travel to the nationals in Nashville, Tennessee.
The pint-sized strategy lovers say they enjoy the game because it also helps improve their thinking and mathematics skills. They have a history of winning, with a hallway full of trophies to prove it.
The club has so far raised more than $9,000.
