The NYPD's bomb squad responded to an apartment building on Burnett Street in Sheepshead Bay after the superintendent found a grenade in a recently deceased resident's apartment.
Officials say that the bomb squad determined the potentially explosive device was inert and harmless.
"He passed away, and we were just cleaning out his room," says Billy Norris, a building worker. "It's all good, but you have to be safe. Better safe than sorry."
Investigators say the inactive device posed no danger to anyone in the building.
