After a decade of campaigning to have the Sheridan Expressway removed, a local grassroots organization says it's finally getting close to reaching its goal.
About three weeks ago, the Youth Ministries for Peace and Justice released a video showing how the expressway is more of a negative feature of the area than a positive one.
Members of the group say the highway, one of three in The Bronx, divides Soundview and West Farms, and it takes up space that can be used for affordable housing or a school.
The organization says almost a year ago, the city received a grant to do a study on the Sheridan Expressway and explore other options.
