The Guardian Angels and Jewish leaders gathered to denounce the recent vandalism at synagogues in Riverdale Thursday.
The Riverdale Jewish Center was one of four synagogues that were vandalized last week.
Multiple cameras caught the suspect in the act. It's believed that the same person committed the crimes.
The four synagogues that were vandalized are all within a half-mile radius of each other in the Riverdale area.
The Guardian Angels have been patrolling the area since Sunday night and they say even when the threat is gone, they will continue to be in the neighborhood.Officials including Rep. Lee Zeldin and former Assembly member Dov Hikind also addressed the vandalism.
Hikind commends the NYPD's response to the vandalism but believes the community and politicians do not respond the same way with antisemitism as they do with other hate crimes.
"Treat antisemitism the same way that you treat all other hate -- one standard, no hypocrisy. And those responsible must pay a price or this is going to get much worse -- it has," Hikind says.
Police are still searching for the suspect. They are asking anyone with information to contact them.
