History repeated itself Friday when Bronx gymnast John Orozco won the borough its first gold medal at the 2007 Empire State Games.
The 14-year-old gymnast helped lead New York City to the gold for the second year in a row with his near-perfect floor exercise. He scored a 9.6.
Athletes from the region took the top two places in the all around gymnast category and scored a total of 254.450 points. Orozco placed first. The silver went to Alex Flores of Brooklyn.
Last year Orozco took home six gold medals.
