Community members came out to the Health Expo and Diabetes Symposium in Flatbush on Saturday.

The event focused on preventing diabetes and obesity, which organizers say affects many people living in central Brooklyn.

Hundreds of churches partnered together to form a task force in hopes of reducing diabetes and obesity by 20 percent by the end of next year.

Organizers say they hope that by holding the event, they can increase awareness about diseases affecting the community.

This is the third annual Health Expo and Diabetes Symposium.
