Highbridge residents are rejoicing after sweating through the first day of summer in extreme heat with no water.
Officials say illegally opened fire hydrants outside 1333 Merriam Ave. cut off water pressure to the building, leaving tenants high and dry for several hours.
Residents say they headed to the street with jugs to fill up as water from the hydrants overflowed the street.
The FDNY is reminding everyone that it's illegal to open a hydrant without an approved spray cap.
