Flatbush homeowners protested Sunday in an effort to save Victorian homes in their community.
The group, along with Councilmember Jumaane Williams, chanted and held signs in an effort to stop developer Solomon Feder from demolishing a Victorian home on East 28th Street.
"His objective is just to demolish the property and put up multiple dwelling property there," says Yves Rene, of F.E.R.N.
Those with the homeowner's association F.E.R.N. say they need the help of the community and elected officials to stop developers from tearing down their historic Victorian homes.
Rene says the neighborhood is unique and serene, and to put up a building there would destroy the fabric of the neighborhood.
Councilmember Williams tells News 12 they are currently going through the legal planning process for a contextual zoning plan.
"We have to have some development in the community, but we have to have contextual zoning so that we can protect some of the neighborhoods that people move into while building up in other places," says Williams.
